Elderman Gathering 2025
Elderman Gathering – A brand new adventure from Menergy
VISION:
Our vision is a world where elders and eldering are valued as guardians of what is important & sacred in life, where maturity is appreciated, celebrated and where caring for our Family, Community & Country in older age is the natural way of ourselves and our culture.
INTENTION:
The focus of the Elderman Gathering is to create a space where we can celebrate eldering and support each other to boldly step beyond ourselves & embrace our roles as carers, guides and guardians of our Communities, Culture & Country.
THEMES :
Some of the themes we imagine may arise at the Gathering include:
- What is it to be an elder?
- To whom am I eldering?
- What are the aspects and qualities eldership invites us to cultivate?
- What would a culture that celebrates eldership look like?
- How could a culture of eldering re-shape our world?
- How do we best guide those who come after us?
- How do we invite the role of mentoring across the life span?
- How can we best support a pathway into eldership for others?
- What help & support do we need on our journeys through leadership?
- What is our legacy & the space we want to leave behind for those who will follow us?
- What is most important in life & how do we both guard & share the sacred with others?
FORMAT:
The Elderman Gathering will follow the self-organising principles used at ‘Everyman’ Gatherings – where every man brings food to contribute to communal cooking & takes responsibility for collective cleaning.
While the eldering team will coordinate an Opening, Heart & Closing Ceremony, the rest of the format will be organically self-organising & likely to include a mixture of workshops, discussions, sharing circles, group activities & more, led by those with gifts & opportunities they would like to share.
